Women’s Basketball Loses Non-Conference Tilt to Rutgers-Newark

JAMAICA, N.Y—Stayce Kay Muirhead grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds to go along with five points and Shadae Rice added a game-high 15 points, but it would not be enough as the York College women's basketball team fell to Rutgers-Newark 62-43 in a non-conference contest Wednesday evening.
 
Rutgers-Newark pretty much controlled the game from the tip-off.  RNU forced 35 turnovers, which they converted into 34 points and also held York to just 23 percent shooting on the night. 
 
The Scarlet Raiders received a balanced scoring attack, as three players reached double-digits in points.  ShaQuanna Marhsall had a team-high 14 points, while Kendra Johnson had 12 point and seven boards.  Arianna Williams also added ten points, six boards and six assists.
 
The Cardinals also received nine points and 14 rebounds from Joanna Josama and seven points and four rebounds from Danielle Dunn.
 
Rutgers-Newark improves to 6-1 with the win, while York drops to 0-7.  The Cardinals will host SUNYIT on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
