Women’s Basketball Upended by Ramapo

JAMAICA, N.Y.—The York College women's basketball team was defeated by Ramapo College in the Cardinals' final contest before the holiday break Wednesday night, losing by a score of 71-48.
York was led by
Joanna Josama, who had 15 points and 12 rebounds in the loss.
Shadae Rice added 13 points and
Vania St. Louis paced the Cardinals with 12 points and two blocks.
Ramapo had a balanced scoring attack, with four players reaching double figures. Alexa Ryan led the way with 15 points and six rebounds.
Ramapo led from start to finish, jumping out to an 8-0 lead right off the bat. York did manage to keep it tight for most of the first half, as they closed to within 1 point (15-14) after a pair of made free throws by Danielle Dun. Ramapo quickly responded with a 12-2 run, however, and went up by 11 points (27-16) with 1:00 left before halftime. In the second half, Ramapo held a double-digit cushion for the entire second half, leading by as many as 28 points.
York will be idle until January 4, when they visit Brooklyn College at 5:00 p.m.
