Lightning Strike Twice in Swim Meet Against York

BRONX, NY—  The York College men's and women's swim teams each fell to the Lightning from Lehman College in a dual meet held in the Bronx Tuesday evening.  The men lost by a score of 82-70, while the women were defeated 93-71.

The lone bright spot for York was Averie Mohammed who earned the Cardinals only victory in the 200-yard freestyle.  Later Mohammed was narrowly bested at the wall in the 100-backstroke, losing to the Lightning's Nadia Alie by .05 seconds.  Senior Ayanna Bennett had a pair of second-place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke to help add to York's point total.

The men were led by Vlad Vyzhymov who placed second in the 200-yard freestyle and third in the 100-yard breaststroke.

York will look to get back on track when they visit the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy on Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
