Lady Cardinals Down Medgar Evers, 81-57
York Improves to 5-6 in the Conference with the Victory

BROOKLYN, NY – The York College women's basketball team picked up an important win Friday night, defeating Medgar Evers College, 81-57, in a City University of New York Athletic Conference South Division match-up. The Lady Cardinals strong start was the difference as they outscored the Cougars 33-19 in the first half.
York dominated the first half, forcing 21 turnovers and holding Medgar Evers to just 18 percent shooting. For the game York shot 48 percent compared to 29 percent for the Cougars.
The Lady Cardinals took an early lead and never looked back. A three-pointer by Justina Boatwright with 10:23 to play in the half gave York a commanding 23-8 lead. York extended its lead to 17 before taking a 14 point lead into the locker room.
In the second half, York continued to extend its lead. Medgar Evers briefly closed within ten points early in the second half but York responded with a 14-2 run which was capped off by a Boatwright lay-up, giving York a 62-40 cushion.
Freshman Kadisha Wickham scored a game and career-high 19 points to go along with seven rebounds and three steals to lead York. Sophomore Maimouna Dabo netted 18 points, pulled down six boards and had four steals, while Boatwright netted 18 points, dished out seven assists and swiped five steals.
York (7-14, 5-6 CUNYAC) will travel to Lehman College on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
