Roshane Wright has been named the York College Male Athlete of the Month for February 2017. Wright was named the MVP of the 2017 CUNYAC Indoor Track and Field Championship after winning three events— the 200-meter dash, 400-meter dash and the long jump. He was also fourth in the triple jump. He earned a total of 34 individual points—the most of any competitor.

Wright's best performance was in the 400-meter dash, in which he ran a season-best time of 49.61. The closest competitor among the senior colleges ran a 53.28. Wright's previous best time of the year was 50.07.

He also ran a season-best time in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 22.33 and besting his previous mark of 22.84.  In the long jump, he once again surpassed his previous best jump of the year with a distance of 6.60 meters. In the triple jump he finished with a mark of 11.80 meters.Â

Earlier in the month, Wright set a new meet record at the St. Joseph’s College Winter Invitational, running a time of 50.07 in the 400-meter dash.

His strong month helped him to qualify for the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championship in both the 400 and 200-meter dash.
