York College freshman softball player Nicole Ovelheira had a dominant month of April. She hit an astounding .543 and had a .914 slugging percentage in 15 games played. She led the team with 20 runs batted in for the month, as well as hitting two home runs, the first two of her career. Not only can Ovelheira hit for power, but she is also a great contact hitter in general, evidenced by the fact she did not strike out at all during the season. She was also recognized by the City University of New York Athletic Conference, being named Rookie of the Week twice in April.
