www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's basketball started slow and were unable to recover Wednesday evening in CUNYAC action, falling 97-34 to the Brooklyn College Bulldogs (14-3, 7-0 CUNYAC) inside York College Gymnasium.
How it Happened
- Brooklyn raced out to an early 8–0 lead before Amaniya Aiken got York on the scoreboard with a floating jumper 2:37 into the opening quarter.
- Aiken continued to keep the Cardinals within striking distance, trimming the deficit to 8–4 with another jumper just over a minute later.
- After York closed to within five at 11–6, Brooklyn seized control of the game, closing the stanza on a dominant 19–0 run over the final 4:21 to take a commanding 24-point lead heading into the second period.
- York began to chip away at the deficit as Chamiya Foy broke the second-quarter scoring ice with a pair of free throws at the 9:44 mark.
- Brooklyn responded with a 9–0 run to regain momentum, but Beautifull Earth halted the Bulldogs' surge by knocking down a three-pointer with 6:01 remaining in the half.
- Earth's trey sparked a strong closing stretch for the Cardinals, who outscored Brooklyn 11–10 over the final 6:01. Despite the late push, York headed into halftime trailing 48–18.
- The Bulldogs controlled the second half, opening the third quarter with 15-consecutive points and maintaining its momentum throughout the remainder of the contest.
- Brooklyn outscored York by 33 points over the final 20 minutes to seal the victory.
Leading the Cardinals
- Aiken carried York with a game-high 20-point effort (9-of-20 FG) to go with four steals and a block.
- Foy contributed all-around effort with a game-high 13 rebounds (six offensive), and added six points (4-of-4 FT), three steals and three assists.
- Earth and Tyla Hooks each chipped in four rebounds and two steals.
For Brooklyn
- Brooklyn was paced by three players in double figures, led by Danae McMullen with 12 points, followed by Dior Dorsey with 11 and Aaliyah McCalla with 10.
- McCalla also filled the stat sheet with a game-high six steals and four assists.
- Sheily Quezada recorded a strong interior performance, finishing with 10 rebounds, eight points, and a game-best four blocks.

York shot 22 percent (13-of-59) from the field, 22.2 percent (2-of-22) from three-point range and 60 percent (6-of-10) from the free-throw line. By comparison, Brooklyn hit on 46.7 percent (43-of-92) from the floor, 20 percent (6-of-30) from beyond the arc and 50 percent (5-of-10) from the stripe. Brooklyn controlled the glass with a 67-33 edge, scoring 26 second-chance points off 34 offensive rebounds. The Bulldogs also outplayed York in steals (21-11), blocks (6-1) and assists (25-7), while converting 28 Cardinal turnovers into 43 points.
