TEMPE, AZ --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com)York College 2025 graduates Dawa Bhote and Maryam Khan were named 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athletes. This is the pair's second joint academic distinction, as they were honored on the 2024-25 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Women's Tennis Academic All-District® Team (read more). 

Nursing majors Bhote and Khan each earned a 4.0 grade-point average for the 2024–25 academic year.  To earn this recognition, scholar-athletes must have achieved a GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.00 scale for the academic year. Bhote and Khan were two of just six CUNYAC student-athletes honored by the ITA. In total, 1,269 NCAA Division III scholar-athletes received the distinction.

Residing in Elmhurst, New York, Bhote completed her second season (2023–24) with the Cardinals. Voted a 2024 CUNYAC Women's Tennis Preseason Player to Watch, she competed in nine matches during the 2024 season, serving as a fixture on the Nos. 1–3 doubles courts and courts 2–4 in singles play. The senior's efforts earned her the York College Women's Tennis Most Outstanding Award. A 2024–25 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Team honoree, Bhote is also a two-time CUNYAC Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll selection and has been named to the Dean's List eight times.

A resident of the Jamaica section of Queens, Khan played three seasons (2022–24) at York. As a senior, Khan appeared in eight matches and capped off her career with an 8–3 triumph on the No. 3 doubles court against Brooklyn College (10/18/2024). In her final year, Khan was named a 2024–25 CUNYAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year Honorable Mention and earned her second career CSC Academic All-District® Team distinction, while also receiving the 2024 CUNYAC Women's Tennis Sportsmanship Award. During her time at York, the 2023 CUNYAC Women's Tennis Preseason Player to Watch received a pair of York College Women's Tennis Coaches Awards, was named to the Dean's List six times, and was a three-time CUNYAC Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll selection.
