www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's basketball returned to action Friday evening with a CUNYAC road encounter against the Lehman College Lightning (16-6, 10-1 CUNYAC), trading leads early before falling behind in a 96-64 setback inside The APEX.
How it Happened
- Layups by Brandon Barrett and Michael Litchfield got York off to a 4-0 lead.
- Lehman responded with a 10-0 scoring spree, going up 10-4 at the 15:54 mark of the first half.
- Rohan Singh's triple capped off a 7-0 answer from the Cardinals, giving York an 11-10 edge.
- Taking back control, Francisco's Demers' 3-pointer finalized a 12-2 Lightning spurt, giving them a 22-13 advantage with 9:41 remaining in the period.
- Another Demers triple at 4:01 resulted in Lehman's first double-digit margin (32-21).
- Trading baskets, Lasara Camara's downtown strike sealed a 39-27 scoreline at intermission.
- The Lightning shot out of a cannon to begin the second frame, as a 13-4 blitz extended their lead to 21 (52-31) with 15:55 on the clock.
- Consecutive baskets from Aidony Nivar made it a 17-point contest (52-35), the closest York would get the rest of the way.
- A back-and-forth battle for most of the second stanza, Lehman held a 22-point edge (78-56) following a York layup by Malakai Clark layup at 3:45.
- Putting the game out of reach, the Lightning outscored the Cardinals 18-8 in the final minutes to close out a 96-64 decision.
Leading the Cardinals
- Barrett hauled in a team-best 10 rebounds and scored eight points to go with York's lone block.
- Clark totaled eight points and seven rebounds (four offensive).
- Kai Holland added eight points (2-of-5 3FG, 2-of-2 FT), and Demitrius Gould dished out a team-leading three assists.
- Litchfield nabbed two steals and chipped in seven points.
For Lehman
- Kai Parris recorded a double-double with 21 points (7-of-11 FG, 6-of-6 FT) and a game-high 10 rebounds.
- Kunal Bagga added an efficient 20 points (6-of-8 3FG, 2-of-2 FT).
- Camara tallied 10 points (4-of-7 FG), eight rebounds, and a game-best four blocks.
- Demers notched 12 points, and Kahleem Jennings conducted the offense with nine assists.

Shooting-wise, the Cardinals shot 34.9 percent (22-of-63) from the floor, 20 percent (5-of-25) from downtown, and a proficient 78.9 (15-of-19) from the charity stripe. Lehman connected on 52.4 percent (33-of-63) of its shots, made 52.2 percent (12-of-23) of three-point attempts, and canned 18 freebies. Utilizing their size advantage, the Lightning won the rebound battle (46-32), had more points in the paint (38-26), and outscored York 22-13 in second-chance points. Additionally, Lehman generated more assists (22-9) and blocks (5-1), while the Cardinals had the edge in steals (7-5).
