JAMAICA, NY--- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's basketball returned to home hardwood Tuesday evening with a CUNYAC battle against the Brooklyn College Bulldogs (10-13, 5-7 CUNYAC). In a tight contest featuring nine ties and eleven lead changes, Brooklyn emerged victorious 61-56 inside a packed York College Gymnasium crowd.

How it Happened

• Michael Litchfield's layup for York leveled the score at eight with 14:31 remaining in the half.
• Taking command, Gabriel Barker's tip-in capped off Brooklyn's extended 19-7 spurt to lead 25-13.
• The Cardinals overturned the deficit with a 13-0 blitz, with Demitrius Gould converting a three-point play at 3:58 to give the team a 28-27 advantage.
• Both squads traded baskets the remaining minutes, as Litchfield's layup with 0:28 on the clock closed out a 36-34 first-half for York.  
• Continuing momentum into the second period, a layup from Brandon Barrett at 15:21 gave the Cardinals a team-high seven-point edge (45-38).
• Brooklyn responded with an 8-0 surge to go up 46-45 with 10:22 on the clock. 
• Buckets by Gould and Malakai Clark helped York regain a four-point lead (50-46).
• Five straight points by Serge Thrasybule helped the Bulldogs to a one-point advantage (51-50) at 6:59.
• Trailing 55-52, four consecutive points by Barrett pushed the Cardinals to a 56-55 scoreline with 2:10 showing on the clock. 
• With the game on the line, Barker scored Brooklyn's final six points, spearheading a 61-55 come-from-behind victory. 

Leading the Cardinals

• Barrett tallied 12 points and a game-best seven rebounds. 
• Litchfield matched Barrett's 12-point mark (6-of-13 FG).
• Gould contributed 10 points (3-of-4 FG, 1-of-1 3FGF, 3-of-3 FT), three assists, and two steals. 
• Clark added eight points (4-of-5 FG) and a team-best four dimes.

For Brooklyn

• Thrasybule paced the squad with a game-leading 18 points (7-of-9 FG, 2-of-2 3FG, 2-of-3 FT), gathered in six rebounds, and swatted two shots. 
• Barker totaled 10 points (3-of-4 FG, 4-of-6 FT) and seven rebounds.
• David McFadden chipped in with eight points, a game-high eight rebounds, and three assists.

Inside the Box Score
The Cardinals shot 40 percent (22-of-55) from the floor, 18.8 percent (3-of-16) from downtown, and 75 percent (9-of-12) from the free-throw line. Brooklyn made 44.9 percent (22-of-49) of its field goals, 31.6 percent (6-of-19) its triples, and shot 73.3 percent (11-of-15) from the charity stripe. In addition to their shotmaking advantage, the Bulldogs won the rebound (35-26) and block (3-2) battles, while York had the edge in assists (16-11) and steals (11-7). Beyond the general stat categories, the Cardinals outscored Brooklyn in the paint (30-26) and via fast break (15-6), while the Bulldogs had the upper hand in points off turnovers (21-20) and second chance points (9-4).
