York College closes out its CUNYAC home schedule Friday (Feb. 14) for a Senior Day showdown against Baruch College

JAMAICA, NYĀ --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com)Ā York College women's basketball played host Tuesday evening to the Brooklyn College Bulldogs (12-11, 7-4 CUNYAC), dropping a 63-26 CUNYAC affair inside York College Gymnasium.

How it Happened
  • Alicia Gumbs' triple got the Cardinals on the board (4-3) at the 8:41 mark of the first quarter.
  • Brooklyn took control with a 14-0 burst to lead 18-3 with 2:16 left in the frame.
  • A layup from Audrey Waldvogel sealed a 23-7 quarter for the Bulldogs.
  • Utilizing momentum, Brooklyn outscored York 18-4 in the second stanza to go up by 30 (41-11) at halftime.
  • The Bulldogs ended the third quarter with a 39-point edge (55-16) following a 14-5 sequence.
  • Trailing 59-16, the Cardinals went on a 7-0 surge as Gumbs, Madison Plaza and Ceana Adams contributed to the run to trim the deficit to 36 (59-23), before Brooklyn closed out a 63-26 result.Ā 
Leading the Cardinals
  • GumbsĀ poured in a game-best 15 points (5-of-7 FT) to lead York in scoring for the 16th time this season.Ā  She alsoĀ aided on the defensive end with two steals and one block.Ā Ā 
  • Beautifull Earth collected six rebounds and nabbed a game-leading three steals.Ā 
  • Plaza dished out three dimes and Tyla Hooks hauled in a game-high eight rebounds.Ā 
For Brooklyn
  • Dorsey Dior netted a team-high 13 points (6-of-8 FG) to go along with six rebounds, three assists, and two steals.Ā 
  • Alina Estrella tallied 12 points (5-of-11 FG, 2-of-3 3FG), three assists, and two swipes.
  • Danae McMullen added eight points (4-of-9 FG) and seven rebounds. Anna Kitch matched McMullen's mark of seven rebounds.Ā

The Cardinals shot 16 percent (8-of-50) from the floor, 12.5 percent (2-of-16) from downtown, and 61.5 percent (8-of-13) from the charity stripe. Brooklyn connected on 27 of its 74 attempts (36.5 percent), sinking four triples and five free throws. Controlling the paint, the Bulldogs held a 56-29 edge in rebounds, outscored York 40-10 down low, and had an 18-5 advantage in second-chance scoring.
