York College returns to the court in 2026 with a CUNYAC home matchup on January 7 versus City College of New York

JAMAICA, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's basketball got off to a solid start, turning in its highest-scoring first quarter of the season, but the momentum faded as the John Jay College Bloodhounds (1-8, 0-1 CUNYAC) pulled away from the Cardinals to grab an 85-51 CUNYAC victory inside the York College Gymnasium.

How it Happened
  • Beautifull Earth sank a jumper on a feed from Amaniya Aiken to break the scoring ice in just six seconds for York's early edge.
  • John Jay countered with 12-straight points, taking advantage as York came up empty on six field-goal attempts during the stretch.
  • The Cardinals settled in and answered with a 7–2 run, highlighted by a five-point burst from Imani Gibson that cut the deficit to 14–9 at the 3:36 mark. 
  • Aiken later drilled a three-pointer as part of her seven-point first quarter, pulling York within 19–16 with just over a minute remaining.
  • Leading 21–16 entering the second period, John Jay broke the game open with a decisive 19–2 run to build a 22-point advantage with 1:52 left in the half.
  • York briefly halted the surge with back-to-back buckets from Earth and Aiken to pull within 41–23, but the Bloodhounds closed the frame strong and carried a 45–23 lead into halftime.
  • John Jay stayed aggressive coming out of the break, opening the third quarter with a 12–2 surge. 
  • Aiken responded by sinking two straight jumpers to give York a boost, while Tyla Hooks added six points in the period.
  • York put points on the board in the period, while John Jay took the quarter by a 22–13 margin.
  • Aiken accounted for nine of York's points in the fourth and scored York's opening six points.
  • Playing with a double-digit cushion for the final 28:27, John Jay pushed its lead to as many as 39 in the final 10 minutes.
Leading the Cardinals
  • Aiken finished with 25 points, marking a career-best performance at York. She also grabbed 10 rebounds (seven offensive), dished out three assists, and contributed defensively with four steals and two blocks, pacing the squad in all five major categories.
  • Hooks authored a solid stat line with eight points and nine rebounds.
  • Earth aided the Cardinal effort on the glass with eight rebounds (seven offensive) to go along with two assists and two steals.
  • Chamiya Foy (3) and Gibson (2) totaled five steals.
For John Jay
  • Brayan Bascones and Michaela Lattimore paced John Jay's balanced attack with 16 points each.
  • Lattimore also pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds and contributed three assists and three blocks, while Bascones added eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
  • Miah Crockett notched 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting, and Kailani Galan contributed nine points, five steals, and four assists.
  • Natalie Simonds recorded a game-high seven assists and scored eight points, as Briana Minick chipped in eight points and four steals.

York shot 25.9 percent (22-of-85) from the field, 15.4 percent (2-of-13) from three-point range, and 83.3 percent (5-of-6) from the free-throw line. John Jay connected on 47.4 percent (37-of-78) from the floor, 10 percent (1-of-10) from beyond the arc, and 55.6 percent (10-of-18) from the charity stripe. Despite being outrebounded 56–51, York made the most of the offensive glass, converting 24 boards into 17 second-chance points. John Jay finished with the edge in steals (22–13), blocks (5–4), assists (27–10), and turned 29 Cardinal turnovers into 30 points.
