Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Molina compiles a season-best 13 saves for @yorkcardinals Men’s Soccer in CUNYAC tilt versus John Jay

York College completes its home slate Saturday (Oct. 18) with a Senior Day matchup versus Brooklyn College

JAMAICA, NY--- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's soccer kept it close Wednesday afternoon against John Jay College (3-10-1, 2-2-1 CUNYAC), but did not have the firepower to match the Bloodhounds, falling 2-0 in a CUNYAC battle from York College Outdoor Athletic Complex.

First-Half Breakdown
Derick Aboagye-Frimpong had the first real opening of the contest at the 1:32 mark, with his close-range effort saved by John Jay goalkeeper Davio Rossilevin (3-10-1). The Bloodhounds had the majority of possession, however, forcing netminder George Molina (2-5-2) into five saves through the first 24:54. The pressure seemed to pay off in the 29th minute, after a handball in the box gave John Jay a penalty. Molina had other plans, comfortably stopping the spot kick from Josh Clemas. Gliding past numerous Cardinal defenders, Eden Haftzadi set up Sekou Sheriff to give the Bloodhounds a 1-0 advantage heading into halftime.

Second-Half Breakdown
Attempting to equalize, long shots by Aboagye-Frimpong and Jason Valeriano tested Rossilevin in the first twenty minutes of the stanza. Haftzadi found his name on the headlines in the 68th minute, as his long range effort looped over Molina to double John Jay's advantage. The Bloodhound defense stood tall the rest of the way, allowing no clear cut chances on their way to seal the 2-0 result.

Inside the Box Score
John Jay tallied more shots (28-14), shots on goal (15-7), and corner kicks (13-7). In net, Molina collected a season-high 13 saves, and Rossilevin stopped seven shots for the Bloodhounds. In the attacking phase, Aboagye-Frimpong led York with six shots and four attempts on goal.
