JAMAICA, NY--- (
www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's soccer closed out their home season Saturday afternoon with a CUNYAC showdown on Senior Day against the Brooklyn College Bulldogs (10-4-1, 5-0-1 CUNYAC). Despite leveling early in the second half, the Cardinals ultimately fell 3-1 from York Outdoor Athletic Complex.
Before kickoff, seniors
George Molina (2021, 2023–25) and
Jamar Johnson (2022–25), both four-year pillars of the program, were honored in the annual Senior Day Ceremony for their dedication and impact on the team.
First-Half Breakdown
Both squads defended well to start the match, with Brooklyn recording the only shot on target through the first 23 minutes. The Bulldogs found the breakthrough at the 23:59 mark, when Emir Imamberdiev headed home an original shot from Navruz Asatullaev that forced Molina (2-6-2) into an excellent save. Brooklyn remained dangerous, forcing Molina into three more stops the rest of the period. With under four minutes left,
Troy Batac got York in the shot column, as his long-range effort found the gloves of Wilson Munoz (6-2-1).
Second-Half Breakdown
Following a free kick, the Cardinals leveled the score 4:09 into the half, as
Jason Valeriano pounced on a loose ball in the box. Brooklyn responded just over three minutes later when Andrew Gavrilov capped off a silky team move to give the Bulldogs a 2-1 edge. Ben Straus' effort at 71:19 found the top corner, pushing the scoreline to 3-1. Searching for a way back, Derick Aboagye struck the crossbar from a header in the 76th minute. York never manufactured a better chance, with the match concluding at 3-1.
Inside the Box Score
The Bulldogs produced more shots (18-14), and shots on target (9-4), and had the edge in corner kicks (5-3). Individually, Gavrilov generated a match-best six shots and four attempts on goal. In net, Molina made six stops, and Muñoz claimed three saves to help Brooklyn to victory.

The Cardinals (3-6-3, 2-3-1 CUNYAC) round out the regular season with a CUNYAC matchup against the City University of New York Beavers (1-9-4, 1-3-2 CUNYAC) from Randall's Island starting at 4 p.m. In order to qualify for the playoffs, York must tie or beat the Beavers.
