Sanchez’s goal earns @yorkcardinals Men’s Soccer a draw against Penn State Scranton

York College returns home Saturday (Sept. 14) for a non-conference showdown against Sarah Lawrence College

DUNMORE, PA --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's soccer opened their road schedule Wednesday afternoon by earning a result against the Penn State Scranton Lions (0-1-1). After trailing 1-0 at intermission, the Cardinals settled down, evening the score late in the second frame in a non-conference matchup from Penn State Scranton Soccer Field.

First-Half Breakdown
An attacking game plan from Penn State Scranton, the Lions tested York netminder George Molina (0-0-1) twice in the first two minutes, forcing him into a pair of saves. The scoreline remained until Fabian Gatsinzi put away a pass from Brian Nguyen to give Penn State Scranton a 1-0 edge. York responded with shots by Kyler Gonzalez and Anuar Arias in the next 3:28 of action, but could not find the back of the net, keeping the score at 1-0 at halftime.

Second-Half Breakdown
Searching for a second goal, the Lions piled the pressure on Molina's net, as the shot-stopper kept out four chances in the opening 10 minutes of the half. Tightening up defensively, each team had only one shot on goal until the 79th minute. With about 11 minutes remaining, Cardinal midfielder Stanley Sanchez equalized from an Altenor Molien feed. This was Sanchez's second goal contribution in the young season. Molina made two more saves, and Sanchez's shot went over the bar in the final minutes, leaving the scoreline at 1-1.
