York College plays host Wednesday (Sept. 18) to Five Towns College in a non-conference quarrel

JAMAICA, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's soccer returned to home field Saturday afternoon against the Sarah Lawrence College Gryphons (2-4). After an even first half, the Gryphons piled on the pressure in the final stanza, claiming a 5-0 victory from York College Outdoor Athletic Complex.

First-Half Breakdown
The match featured three shots on target in the first 11:02 of action. George Molina saved two shots from Sarah Lawrence, and Elijah Shohat collected a long shot from York's Stanley Sanchez. The final 34 minutes was a tactical battle, as Gryphon forward Connor Saul's right-footed shot that Molina parried in the 45th minute proved to be the best chance of the half.

Second-Half Breakdown
A stalemate for around the first quarter of the frame, Peter Miles' side-foot finish placed Sarah Lawrence on top in the 57th minute. Miles latched onto a long ball from Leon Bronschvag and found the back of the net at the 63:07 mark to extend the Gryphons lead to 2-0. Saul's powerful right-footed shot in the 73rd minute found the bottom corner to make the scoreline 3-0. The duo of Ayden Wrye and Aidan Roney combined for two goals in the final 11 minutes of action, with Wyre collecting a brace. For the Cardinals, Jamar Johnson and Malal Diallo tested substitute goalie Jacob Freed twice.

Outside of the final result, Sarah Lawrence had the edge in shots (29-7), shots on target (12-3), and corners (8-2). Johnson and Michael Martey paced York with two shots on goal. Molina (0-1-1) totaled seven saves while Jonah Zalis (1-2) recorded the win.
