www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's basketball produced a pair of 20-point scorers Tuesday evening in a road battle against the SUNY Old Westbury Panthers (4-2) but could not push past the hosts, falling 93-83 in a tightly contested non-conference matchup inside Clark Athletic Center.
How it Happened
- Michael Litchfield capped off York's hot start with a layup at the 15:07 mark in the first half to put the Cardinals ahead 12-5.
- Brandon Barrett's layup retained the Cardinals' seven-point advantage (19-12).
- The Panthers responded with a 13-0 burst to take a 25-19 lead.
- Trailing 30-22, York trimmed the deficit to one (30-29) following Aidony Nivar's three-point play with 6:33 remaining in the half.
- Responding, Old Westbury closed the stanza on a 19-7 spurt to take a 13-point edge (49-36) into intermission.
- York cut the deficit to single digits (51-42) after Demitrius Gould's layup early in the second frame.
- Inching closer, another Gould layup got the score to within five (58-53) with 13:43 showing on the clock.
- As both teams traded baskets, the Panthers got their advantage to double-digits again (76-66) after Joel Ofori's two-pointer with 7:53 remaining.
- The Cardinals took back momentum with a quick 7-0 charge to make it a one-possession affair (76-73) at the 5:41 mark.
- Ofori converted a three-point play to culminate an 8-2 blitz, giving Old Westbury an 84-75 advantage.
- York was able to trim the deficit to six on two separate occasions in the final 4:01, but could not break through, as the Panthers held on for a 93-83 victory.
Leading the Cardinals
- Barrett shined once again, scoring a career-best 29 points (12-of-20 FG, 5-of-8 FT) and hauling in a game-high 15 boards (five offensive) on his way to a third consecutive double-double.
- Litchfield netted a season-high 21 points (9-of-15 FG, 2-of-5 3FG) to go along with three assists.
- Nivar totaled 17 points (6-of-14 FG, 3-of-10 3FG), four assists, and two steals.
- Gould chipped in 11 points and five rebounds, while Rohan Singh tied Nivar's four-assist total.
For Old Westbury
- Kellen Leake paced the squad with 25 points (10-of-14 FG, 4-of-7 3FG).
- Amadi Lee-Kane generated 21 points (8-of-16 FG, 2-of-6 3FG, 3-of-4 FT) and dished out a team-leading six assists.
- Jamari Williams added 18 points (7-of-13 FG, 2-of-2 3FG) and seven rebounds.
- Jaden Flemming recorded a double-double off the bench with 15 points (5–of-7 FG, 5-of-5 FT) and a team-best 10 rebounds.

York shot a solid 46.5 percent (33-71) from the floor, 27.3 percent (6-22) from downtown, and 64.7 percent (11-17) from the charity stripe. Old Westbury canned 53 percent (35-66) of its field goals, 47.1 percent (8-17) of its three-pointers, and made 15 free throws. The Panthers held narrow advantages in the rebound (40-35), assist (20-16), and steal (10-8) departments. A Barrett-led offense helped the Cardinals lead the paint points battle (54-40) and second-chance points (16-8), but Old Westbury had the edge in fast break points (21-12) and points off turnovers (18-12).
