www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's volleyball finished a three-match non-conference homestand with a battle against the Pratt Institute Cannoneers (4-8), falling in straight sets (25-19, 25-12, 25-13) inside York College Gymnasium.
First Set Breakdown
- York began the contest with a kill from Maritza Ortega Ramirez.
- The Cannoneers responded with an 11-2 burst to lead 11-3.
- A kill by Maria Ventura cut the deficit to seven (14-7).
- Trailing 17-9, a smackdown by Simranjit Kaur capped off a mini 5-1 spurt to make the score 18-14.
- A service error from Pratt's Colleen Russell once again put the set within four (22-18) before the Cannoneers closed out a 25-19 result with a kill by Emily Sontag.
Second Set Breakdown
- Battling with Pratt, the Cardinals took a 7-6 advantage following an attack error.
- Cici Liu's six aces spearheaded a 10-0 Cannoneer blitz to lead 16-7.
- York got it as close to seven (16-9) before Pratt utilized solid play to win a commanding stanza 25-12.
Third Set Breakdown
- Two aces by Natalie Dziadzio helped the Cannoneers take an early 8-1 edge.
- The Cardinals claimed the following two points to make it 8-3.
- Pratt took nine out of the next 14 points to lead by nine (17-8).
- Dziadzio generated three of Pratt's next six points to extend the advantage to 14 (23-9).
- A kill by Jachimma Onwuamaegbu and an ace by Ortega Ramirez gave hope to York before ultimately falling 25-13.
Leading the Cardinals
- Ortega Ramirez paced the squad with three kills and two aces to go along with five digs.
- Onwuamaegbu totaled two kills and blocked a match-high two shots.
- Jasmine Dias added two kills and scooped up a team-leading seven digs.
- Plaza chipped in with two kills, and Samantha Panameno recorded seven assists.
For Pratt
- Liu served a match-best eight aces and helped the offense flow with six aces.
- Russell smacked down nine kills.
- Dziadzio produced nine points (five kills, three aces, one block).
- Alison Sontag generated nine assists, and Emma Leavey held the fort down with 11 digs.

York hit -.048 on 63 attacks, while Pratt attacked at a rate of .181 on 72 swings. The Cannoneers also had the advantage in points (52-18), kills (30-11), aces (21-4), and assists (25-8).
