FLUSHING, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College senior Ryan Lahens has been recognized by the CUNYAC as the 2022-23 Men's Indoor Track & Field Sportsmanship Award winner, announced Wednesday by league officials. 

Lahens is the program's first CUNYAC Sportsmanship Award honoree since Kenny Jacquet in 2009-10.  Since 2015-16, York has placed six members on the Sportsmanship Team. 

The Brooklyn native was limited to just two meets on competition during the indoor season as he made his season debut at the Last Chance Meet (Feb. 24) to finish first in the 60-meter dash with a personal-best 7.32 to clock the CUNYAC's third-fastest time.  Lahens also competed in the 60 (7.33) and 4x400 relay(3:54.44) at CUNYAC Championships (Feb. 26).  

"Being awarded the CUNYAC Sportsmanship Award definitely means a lot. After being deemed out for the indoor season, yet still being able to make an appearance for the last two meets meant a lot. This award is given to athletes who are not only passionate, but to those who are resilient. I would like to thank my coaches, teammates, and the entire athletics department." - said Lahens

Lahens adds his latest accolade to a collection that includes achieving All-Star status from the 2021-22 indoor and 2022 outdoor seasons.
