York College remains at home Thursday (Mar. 30) for a CUNYAC bout against Lehman College

JAMAICA, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's volleyball returned to home court Tuesday night, but were unable to push past the Brooklyn College Bulldogs (8-12, 4-7 CUNYAC), falling in straight sets (25-6, 25-9, 25-10) in a CUNYAC affair inside York College Gymnasium.

How it Happened
  • Brooklyn raced out to a 9-1 edge in the opening set.
  • York claimed two-consecutive points, including a kill by Stanley Sanchez, to cut the deficit to 9-3.
  • Another kill by Sanchez made first-set score 15-5.
  • The Bulldogs won 10 of the following 11 points for a first-set victory.
  • A back and forth first nine points in the second stanza saw Brooklyn lead 5-4.
  • A 9-1 burst from the Bulldogs pushed their advantage to double-digits (15-5).
  • After an even next few points where Brooklyn was up 19-8, the Bulldogs ripped off six of the next seven points to win the set.
  • Four consecutive aces by Brooklyn's David Lema helped the Bulldogs to a 9-0 lead in the third frame.
  • The Cardinals charged to take five of the following nine points, trimming Brooklyn's edge to 13-5.
  • Stringing together a couple of rallies, York reached double-digit points to finish the third set with a 25-10 setback. 
Leading the Cardinals
  • Sanchez paced York with three kills, five digs, and a match-high 15 attack attempts.
  • Jaylen Campbell served a career-high two aces and chipped in three digs.
  • Ahmed Algendy controlled the offense with four assists.
  • Glenver Stuart added a kill.
For Brooklyn
  • Jiaian Flanders led the way with a match-best seven kills.
  • Dion Csikortos chipped in with four kills and three aces.
  • David Lema quarterbacked the team with five digs, and match-highs in aces (6) and assists (17). 
Inside the Box Score
  • York finished the match hitting -.306 and had four kills. Hunter attacked at a rate of .364 and outplayed York in points (44-6), kills (23-4), assists (22-4), aces (18-2) and digs (26-11).
