BRONXVILLE, NY --- (
www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's swimming opened the 2023-24 campaign Saturday afternoon with a convincing 63-29 victory against the host Sarah Lawrence Gryphons (0-6-1) while the Mount Saint Mary College Knights (2-3) outpaced the Cardinals 81-36 as part of a tri-meet inside Campbell Sports Center.

Richard Reyes debuted for the Cardinals in the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyle, finishing second in both events. Reyes completed the 200-yard freestyle at 2:22.53, and touched the wall in the 500-yard race with a time of 6:50.66.
The Cardinals dominated the 50-yard freestyle with five top-six finishers.
Jeremy Sapeg took home York's top time at 37.31, good enough for second position, with
Ahmed Algendy (40.14),
Wood-by Paulemont (51.05),
Aanas Aybakar (56.31), and
George Molina (1:00.42) all following behind.
Paulemont also finished second in the 100-yard freestyle (2:19.13) while Sapeg grabbed second place in the 200-yard backstroke (6:06.08) event.
The combination of Algendy, Aybakar, Sapeg, and Reyes claimed victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay at 2:31.01.
