FLUSHING, NY --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College's Alex Winter was picked as a 2023-24 CUNYAC Preseason Men's Swimmer to Watch Friday as league officials released the four-member squad. 

A 2022-23 CUNYAC All-Star, Winter accumulated a total of 16 points at the 2023 championship meet. He shattered his season best time by 1.78 to place second in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:09.10, finished fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (56.28), and fifth in the 50-yard freestyle (25.96) events at the year-end meet.   

Swimming in all four meets for the Cardinals last campaign, including at times, being York's lone competitor at the men's meet, Winter led by example while showing the utmost respect for his teammates, opponents, coaches, officials and staff. This dedication helped him land the CUNYAC Sportsmanship Award. 

Voted on by the league coaches, York was selected to finish fourth in the CUNYAC Preseason Poll.

Baruch College claimed first position with nine points, along three first-place votes, while the Cardinals received three points. 

The 2024 CUNYAC Championships will take place on February 2 (Day 1), February 3 (Day 2), and February 4 (Day 3). York's season begins Saturday (Nov. 4) with a tri-meet against Sarah Lawrence College and Mount Saint Mary College at 1 p.m. inside Campbell Sports Center.
