www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's and women's swimming made their CUNYAC home debut Tuesday evening against the Brooklyn College Bulldogs (M: 3-0; W: 2-1) from York College Natatorium.  The Bulldogs overcame York with an 85-57 men's final and a 109-17 women's decision. Tonight marked York's first home meet since January 21, 2020 against Purchase College.
Richard Reyes excelled for the Cardinal men in his home debut, cruising to victory in the 200-meter freestyle and the 400-meter freestyle. Gaining nine points in each event, Reyes touched the wall at 2:48.66 in the 200-meter and 5:56.98 in the 400-meter event.Â
Alex Winter claimed first place in the 100-meter backstroke with a result of 1:18.32. He also finished second at 1:02.19 in the 100-meter freestyle.Â
York had a trio of top-five finishes in the 50-meter freestyle, as
Jeremy Sapeg claimed third with a result of 39.75, followed by Amhed Algendy (52.82), and
Wood-by Paulemont (52.88).
Sapeg also received first-place points in the 100-meter backstroke.Â
The combination of Reyes, Algendy, Sapeg, and Winter touched the wall first to win the 200-meter freestyle relay with a time of 2:33.78.
On the women's side,
Julia Wyman had a pair of second-place finishes, swimming a 3:09.56 time in the 200-meter IM, and clocking in at 1:25.88 in the 100-meter butterfly. Wyman also claimed first-place points in the 100-meter breaststroke, finishing the race at 1:37.98.
