York College men's basketball controlled play in the opening half but were unable to capture victory Tuesday night in a hard fought 64-59 CUNYAC road loss against the Baruch College Bearcats (16-5, 8-2 CUNYAC) inside ARC Arena.
How it Happened
- Micaiah Goosby accounted for six of eight points to put York ahead 8-2 just 2:54 in.
- York extended its lead to 21-13 at the 9:54 mark.
- Baruch answered with a 9-0 run to take its first lead of the game (22-21) after Sean Donnellan's layup with 5:36 remaining in the half.
- A quick 7-2 burst gave the Cardinals a 28-24 advantage as York played ahead for the final 4:54 of the period.
- Devin Nicholson's floater with 1:28 remaining closed the first-half scoring to trim Baruch's deficit to one, 33-32.
- Baruch regained the advantage early in the second half with a triple by Jehmehl Fair to go up 35-33.
- The Bearcats continued to push with a 15-6 scoring spree to grab a 47-41 advantage following Donnellan's driving layup with 12:09 remaining.
- Goosby responded by scoring twice in 63 seconds to chop Baruch's lead to two (47-45).
- Baruch used an 8-3 run to stretch its lead to 55-48 with 3:49 showing on the clock.
- Trailing 57-51, Tavon Price landed a 3-pointer to move York within three at the 1:29 mark.
- York made it a 59-57 game 54 seconds later as Devine Chisholm drained a 3-pointer.
- Down 61-57 with 19 seconds left, Goosby converted on a pair of free-throws for York's final points before Gerard Nicholson sank three freebies to settle the 64-59 final.

Price netted a game-high 18 points (5-of-9 FG, 3-of-5 3FG, 5-of-6 FT) and secured five boards. Goosby added 14 points (6-of-10 FG, 2-of-2 FT), four boards, and two steals. Chisholm and
Terrell Fullerton paced York with five assists each.
Olawale Kila hauled in a team-best 11 rebounds.

Devin Nicholson led Baruch with 14 points (5-of-12 FG, 3-of-3 FT) and four steals. Gerard Nicholson notched 13 points (3-of-8 FG, 7-of-8 FT), five rebounds, and a team-best five assists. Jehmel Fair added 12 points (5-of-10 FG, 2-of-4 3FG), five boards, and two steals. Akil Vaughn led both teams with two blocks. Emil Purisic gathered a team-best 11 boards.
York shot 36.1 percent (22-of-61) from the floor, 25 percent (8-of-32) from beyond the arc, and 58.3 percent (7-of-12) from the line. Baruch shot 40 percent (22-of-55) from the field, 22.2 percent (4-of-18) from deep, and 76.2 percent (16-of-21) from the charity stripe. While the Cardinals outplayed Baruch in assists (20-14) and committed fewer turnovers (14-15), the Bearcats dominated the glass with advantages in rebounds (42-33), steals (9-7), blocks (3-2), second-chance points (13-6) and points in the paint (32-26).
