York College men's basketball dominated play in the opening half to take care of the Medgar Evers College Cougars (5-17, 1-10 CUNYAC) Friday night by the final count of 79-53 CUNYAC win inside York College Gymnasium to sweep the season series..
How it Happened
- Mousa Sinera's three assists helped Medgar Evers to an 8-7 lead early on.
- York responded with a 23-0 run to take a 30-8 edge with 7:55 remaining in the first half.
- Jacob Green's triple with 52 seconds on the clock trimmed York's halftime lead to 42-21.
- Medgar Evers got as close as 17 points (52-35) in the second half after Michael Perez made a jumper at the 11:59 mark.
- Olawale Kila capped off a 9-0 spurt to extend the Cardinals' advantage to 26 (61-35).
- The Cardinals stretched their lead to as many as 29 points on three separate occasions while preventing the Cougars from breaking past the 20-point deficit for the final 11:17.
- Sinera's triple with 14 seconds left closed out the scoring with York prevailing 79-53.York made it a 59-57 game 54 seconds later as Devine Chisholm drained a 3-pointer.

Kila was at the forefront of York's display, scoring a team-best 17 points (7-of-14 FG) and gathering a team-leading 13 boards. This performance was his seventh double-double of the season.
Terrell Fullerton added 16 points (7-of-15 FG), three steals, and a game-high nine dimes.

Tavon Price chipped in with 11 points (4-of-9 FG, 3-of-4 FT) and six boards.
Devine Chisholm reached double-figures with 10 points (3-of-12 FG, 3-of-4 FT).
Tyres Desinor tallied three steals and a season-high 10 points (5-of-8 FG) in 17 minutes off the bench.
Micaiah Goosby scored nine points (4-of-9 FG) and hauled in 12 boards.
Sinera led the way for Medgar Evers with 10 points (4-of-13 FG, 2-of-6 3FG), a game-high 21 boards, five assists, and two blocks. Zena Edosomwan netted 10 points (5-of-9 FG). Green also chipped in with 10 points (4-of-15 FG). Off the bench, Emmanuel Adenekan grabbed seven boards and blocked two shots.
York shot 41.6 percent (32-of-77) from the floor and 73.7 percent (14-of-19) from the charity stripe. The Cardinals' stifling defense held Medgar Evers to 28.9 percent (22-of-76) from the field, 20 percent (7-of-35) from downtown, and only four free-throw attempts. York outplayed Medgar Evers in rebounds (48-45), assists (16-13), and steals (9-2). Additionally, the Cardinals dominated the break, having the edge in points off turnovers (22-3), fast break points (28-8), and points in the paint (58-28).
