www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's basketball rallied Wednesday night to tie the game late but were unable to push past the Lehman College Lightning (9-6, 3-1 CUNYAC) at home, falling 93-83 in a CUNYAC matchup inside York College Gymnasium.
How it Happened
- Up 11-10, Lehman went on a 9-0 run to take a 20-10 lead.
- With a 29-19 edge, the Lighting extended their advantage to a game-high 19 points (41-22) after a 12-3 burst.
- York utilized a 15-5 spurt to cut the deficit to nine (46-37) with 5:38 remaining in the half.
- Terrell Fullerton's layup beat the first-half buzzer to pull York within 11, 60-49.
- Olawale Kila's jumper at the 18:12 mark capped off a 8-2 spree to open the half, cutting York's deficit to four (62-58).
- Lehman responded with a 9-3 run to extend its lead to double-digits (71-61).
- York's Matthew Trepeta's 3-pointer with 10:21 remaining tied the score (75-75) for the first time since the opening stanza.
- The Lightning answered the call with eighth-straight points to take a 83-75 lead with 6:45 remaining.
- Micaiah Goosby's layup with 6:04 left in the second frame put York within striking distance, 83-79, the closest they would be the rest of the way.
- Leading 88-81, Mo Idrissou's three-point-play with 1:25 showing on the clock pushed Lehman's advantage to 10 (91-81), effectively sealing the game.
"Our team displayed a ton of fight in the 2nd half to cut the lead against a really good Lehman team. We have to work harder to get over the hump and not dig a huge hole for ourselves."-said head coach Jamel Gist
Gist elaborated on York's performance:
"Our hall movement and shot making was tremendous but it's on the defensive end that will allow us to win games."

Trepeta led York in scoring with a season-best 21 points (7-of-9 3FG) to go with six boards and three steals. Fullerton added 20 points (7-of-15 FG, 5-of-6 FT) and dished out a game-high seven dimes in 40 minutes of action. Kila dropped 13 points (6-of-12 FG) and hauled in nine boards. Goosby recorded a double-double with 12 points and a game-best 12 rebounds. Defensively, the forward had two steals and led the Cardinals with two blocks.
Devine Chisholm reached double figures with 11 points (2-of-5 3FG, 3-of-4 FT) and had five assists.
William Brown chipped in with three steals.
Lehman also scored five players in double figures. Idrissou had 21 points (6-of-8 FG, 3-of-4 3FG, 6-of-8 FT) off the bench while Juan Fernandez netted 17 points (6-of-11 FG, 5-of-6 3FG). Isaiah Geathers added 17 points (7-of-16 FG) and recorded team-highs in rebounds (7) and assists (5). Will Feldman notched 11 points (4-of-6 FG), and Kai Parris put up 10 points (4-of-7 FG) and six rebounds in 16 minutes of action.
York shot 44.1 percent (30-of-68) from the field, 57.9 percent (11-of-19) from the charity stripe, and scorched 42.9 percent of its threes (12-of-28), the second-best mark of the season. Meanwhile, Lehman rained in 54.8 percent (34-of-62) of its field goals, to go along with 50 percent shooting (10-of-20) from downtown and 88.2 percent (5-of-17) from the line.
The Lightning edged the rebounding battle (34-30) and had more points in the paint (38-28). On the other hand, the Cardinals had more assists (21-17), steals (10-5), and fewer turnovers (15-14). Additionally, York held an advantage in points off turnovers (20-13) and fast break points (21-9). Lehman had a 32-6 edge in bench scoring.
