www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's basketball closed out their regular season Tuesday evening with a 63-30 CUNYAC setback against the Brooklyn College Bulldogs (18-3, 12-0 CUNYAC) inside York College Gymnasium.
How it Happened
- Brooklyn jumped ahead 4-0 just 1:27 in before doubling its advantage 4:51 later to make it a 12-4 game.
- Mac-Dege Dessources dropped in a pair of layups in the final 2:15 to slice York's deficit in half, 12-8, heading into the second quarter.
- York struggled over the next 10 minutes, shooting just 2-of-16 from the field as Brooklyn opened with a 10-1 run to take a 22-11 lead.
- Alicia Gumbs closed out of the first-half scoring for York with a layup to send a 22-13 game into the break.
- York's offensive struggles carried over to the second half as the Cardinals made just 1-of-10 shots and scored just four points in the third quarter compared to Brooklyn's 20.
- The Bulldogs scored 15-unanswered points to push their lead to 22 points (37-15) with 3:04 remaining in the period.
- Brooklyn put the game out of reach with a 16-8 spurt to extend the lead to a game-high 36 points (61–25) with 2:38 showing on the fourth-quarter clock.

Dessources scored 17 of York's 30 points on the evening to carry the Cardinals. She grabbed 13 rebounds to post her 11th double-double of the season (40th of career), and added one block and one steal to her statline. Alicia Gumbs followed with nine points, three assists, one block and one steal while Aminata Sagna contributed four steals and one block. Ellma Hodzic pitched in eight rebounds and two blocks
Chanel Jemmott anchored the Bulldogs with 17 points (6-of-13 FG, 5-of-6 FT), seven rebounds, two blocks and one steal. Ericka James generated 13 points and 11 rebounds as Gianna Gotti went for 11 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals. Sarah Labiner added 10 points, nine rebounds and five blocks.
York finished the game shooting 19.6 percent (10-of-51) from the field, 0-of-10 from 3-point range and 55.6 percent (10-of-18) from the free-throw line while Brooklyn connected on 31.9 percent (22-of-69) from the floor, 15.4 percent (4-of-26) from downtown and 83.3 percent (15-of-18) from the charity stripe. The Bulldogs dominated on the glass, 55-38, pulling down 24 offensive rebounds to create 20 second-chance points. Brooklyn also outplayed York in assists (13-5), blocks (7-5), steals (10-6) and scored 22 points off 25 Cardinal turnovers.
