www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's basketball fell behind early and was unable to keep pace with the St. Joseph's University (L.I) Golden Eagles (1-2) Thursday evening in a 61-47 non-conference road setback from Danzi Athletic Center.
How it Happened
- St. Joseph's (L.I.) started on fire, opening the game on a 14-3 run.
- York responded with a 7-0 spurt capped off by a Shamal Grant Jr. fast-break layup.
- The Golden Eagles answered with nine-straight points to lead 23-10 with 10:20 remaining in the first stanza.
- York held St. Joseph's scoreless until the 3:41 mark, when Justin Turner made a layup to maintain a 25-13 advantage.
- Another Turner freebie with 31 seconds left ended the first-half scoring to build a 20-point cushion (33-13) at the break.
- Trailing 51-27, Terrell Fullerton drained a 3-pointer before Mert Zor dropped in a layup as part of York's 5-0 run to get as close as 19 with 9:47 remaining.
- St. Joseph's played with a double-digit lead for the final 32:21, stretching its advantage to as many as 29 points (73-42) as Becir Hot dropped in a layup with 20 seconds remaining.

Fullerton finished with 12 points to lead the Cardinals in scoring for the fifth-straight game. The junior guard also had a team-high three assists and pulled-down four boards.
Olawale Kila grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds and scored 11 points (5-of-10 FG) to cement his first-career double-double.
Shamal Grant Jr. nabbed a career-best three steals off the bench.
Turner, Xavier Allen, and Matthew Hirdt reached double-digit points for St. Joseph's. Turner scored 10 points to go along with four assists, Allen chipped in with 21 (9-of-17 FG, 3-6 3PT) in addition to team-bests in rebounds (10) and assists (6), and Hirdt added 12 points and hauled in eight boards.
St. Joseph's shotmaking was a level above on the night. The Golden Eagles made 45 percent (29-64) of their buckets, including 41 percent (11-27) from downtown. Meanwhile, York shot 24 percent (16-37) from the field and 17 percent (3-18) from beyond the arc.
The Golden Eagles also held advantages in rebounds (46-39), assists (24-8), and points in the paint (30-22). The Cardinals won the turnover battle, only committing 11 opposed to St. Joseph's 16. They utilized live ball turnovers to outscore the Golden Eagles in fast-break points (8-2).
