Inside the Box Score
Fullerton led all players with 22 points (10-of-20 FG) and a season-high seven assists. He also hauled in seven rebounds. Smiley chipped in career-highs of 15 points (7-of-9 FG) and 10 boards to capture his first double-double as a Cardinal.
Olawale Kila also added 10 points (4-of-8 FG) and grabbed five rebounds. Off the bench,
William Brown connected on two triples, and
Mert Zor grabbed a clutch six rebounds (three offensive).
"Terrell had a phenomenal performance and will grow as the season goes on. It was great to have Smiley back as he contributed on both ends of the basketball. Our bench provided instant impact as soon as they entered the game and we are excited to keep building from this."-Gist added
All of Clark's starters reach double-digit points. Saintilus led the team with 20 (7-of-7 FT) and forced three steals. Isaiah Taylor chipped in 17, recording three steals of his own. Reid Newman and Mikey O'Brien both scored 13 points and added two blocks, with O'Brien also having three steals, and dishing out a team-best five dimes. Kekoa McArdle scored 12 points and cleaned the glass with a game-high 11 boards.
Both programs had similar shooting statistics. York shot 47 percent (29-62) from the field, 28 percent (5-18) from downtown, and 65 percent (11-17) from the line. Clark made 44 percent (31-71) of their buckets, shooting 28 percent from beyond the arc (11-39) and 83 percent from the charity stripe (10-12).
While York outrebounded Clark (41-38), the Cougars had more assists (21-16), points off turnovers (22-15), and second-chance points (14-8). In a game where the largest lead was 12 points, stats like these may have swung the game in Clark's favor.
