www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College men's basketball rallied late but could not overcome a 12-point deficit at the half Tuesday with a 77-70 non-conference setback against the Manhattanville College Valiants (3-1) inside Kennedy Gym to open a three-game road trip.
How it Happened
- Trailing 8-7, York scored eight of the next 11 points to grab its largest lead of the game, 15-11, with 14:39 showing on the first-half clock.
- The two schools went back and forth as Devine Chisholm sank a free-throw put York up 25-23 with 9:45 left.
- Manhattanville went on a 16-2 run the rest of the half capped by a Xavier Kistoo-Miles jumper with 1:16 remaining.
- The Cardinals' Terrell Fullerton led all players with 12 points (5-of-10 FG) at intermission.
- York outscored Manhattanville 9-6 to begin the second, cutting the deficit to 45-36, following a William Brown layup.
- The Valiants responded with a 14-1 spurt, extending the lead to 59-37 with 12:15 left on the clock.
- Mert Zor conveyed a pair of free-throws at 10:06 to cap off an 11-0 Cardinal burst, cutting the score to 59-48.
- Manhattanville iced the game with a 15-6 run, extending their advantage to 74-54 with 2:56 remaining.
- York rallied late by using a 16-3 score spree to close the scoring books that included 10 unanswered points in the final 50 seconds.
- Matthew Trepeta closed out the game for the Cardinals with a 3-pointer with three seconds remaining.
Inside the Box Score
Fullerton led York with 18 points (2-of-5 3FG, 4-of-4 FT) and hauled in a game-high 10 rebounds to post his first double-double as a Cardinal. Trepeta scored 12 of his 16 points in the final 2:40 and added seven boards and two steals.
Olawale Kila also reached double figures with 10 points along with six boards. On the defensive end, Chisholm (nine points) had a game-best five steals (tied career-high), Shamal Grant. Jr swatted away two shots, and Zor nabbed two steals.
Tommy Lotito paced Manhattanville with 18 points (8-of-12 FG). Additionally, he grabbed six rebounds and dished out a game-high five dimes. Jackson Leech was not far behind with 17 points (6-of-9 FG) and hauled in a team-best seven boards. Jake Dunn added 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds of his own.
The Valiants held a major edge in field goal percentage, shooting 48 percent (31-65) opposed to York's 34 percent (23-68). From downtown, Manhattanville shot 36 percent (8-22), and York made 25 percent (7-28) of their attempts. The Cardinals were more proficient from the free-throw line, making 17 freebies (17-22), as opposed to Manhattanville's seven (7-10). The team's 77 percent from the charity stripe was a season-high.
York also held a slight edge in rebounds (41-40) and blocks (2-1), and the team had a large advantage in steals (12-6) and points off turnovers (27-16).

Manhattanville controlled the game in the half-court, dishing out 20 assists, opposed to eight for the Cardinals.
