www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's basketball opened their 2021-22 road schedule Monday evening with an 86-46 non-conference setback to the Ramapo College Roadrunners (5-2) inside Bradley Center in Mahwah, New Jersey.
How it Happened
- The Cardinals fell behind early, misfiring on four shots to open the game to trail Ramapo, 6-0.
- York regrouped to outscore Ramapo 8-6 during a stretch of 3:32 as Mac-Dege Dessources netted six points to pull the Cardinals within four (12-8) with 3:23 showing on the first-quarter clock.
- Ramapo closed out the opening stanza with six-unanswered points to push its lead to 10 (18-8) at the end of 10 minutes.
- The Roadrunners scored 14 points off nine York turnovers during a second quarter that saw Ramapo hold a +7 (23-16) scoring advantage.
- Kristina Sierra opened the second-quarter scoring for York by drilling a trey before Ramapo answered with a 17-6 run to make it a 35-17 lead with 4:12 remaining. Ramapo maintained its 17-point cushion to hold a 41-24 lead at intermission.
- The Roadrunners' lead blossomed to 33 points (66-33) in the third quarter and later extended the advantage to a game-high 41 points (86-45) with 13 seconds left.

York was led by
Alicia Gumbs, who paced all scorers with a career-high 19 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field to go along with six rebounds, four steals and three assists.
Ellma Hodzic followed with 13 points, five blocks (career-high) and two steals while
Aminata Sagna nabbed a pair of steals.
Alie Wickersheim registered 18 points (7-of-11 FG) and 10 rebounds to lead Ramapo to victory. Jada Thompson (14 point) and Lyndsey Ross (10 points) both scored in double-digits.
In the end, York shot 31.4 percent from the field (16-of-51), 16.7 percent from beyond the arc (3-of-18) and 64.7 percent from the free-throw line (11-of-17) as Ramapo hit on 50 percent from the floor (34-of-68), 41.2 percent from three-point territory (7-of-17) and 84.6 percent from the charity stripe (11-of-13). York owned the edge in blocks (6-4) while Ramapo held the advantage in assists (20-7), steals (16-8), points in the paint (42-20) and points off turnovers (31-9). Ramapo also outrebounded York, 44-29, scoring 18 second-chance points off 15 offensive rebounds.
