MANHATTAN --- (www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's basketball pulled away with a 19-5 run to start the game Wednesday evening to roll past the City College of New York Beavers (2-21, 2-10) by the final count of 73-52 for a CUNYAC road win inside Nat Holman Gymnasium.  The win gives York the season sweep of the Beavers for the first time since the 2014-15 campaign.

The Cardinals jumped out to a 14-point lead and held a 21-9 advantage at the end of 10 minutes of play as Mac-Dege Dessources tallied eight points during the first period.  Diamond Jackson netted six points as part of an 11-2 surge to stretch York's lead to 27 points (44-17) with two minutes remaining in the half.  York shot 5-of-7 from the field and limited CCNY to 0-of-6 during a stretch of 3:20 before taking a 47-21 advantage into the break.

York opened the second half with Dessources scoring four points during a 7-0 run that pushed the Cardinal lead to a game-high 33 points (54-21) with 8:35 left in the third quarter.  York maintained a 20-point cushion for the final 25:17 as CCNY outscored the Cardinals by five (31-26) in the second half to pull within 21 points when the final buzzer sounded.

Dessources finished with 16 points (7-of-15 FG), 13 rebounds, one block and one steal in 27 minutes of action to post her 13th double-double of the season (25th career).  Jackson scored eight of her career-high 14 points (7-of-12 FG) in the first half while Destiny Drummond followed with 10 points and two steals.  Ellma Hodzic added six assists and two blocks to the win as Kristina Sierra scored nine points and Cami Melson and Keyla Cabrera each went for eight.

Reilly Boehm led all scorers with a 23-point effort for CCNY.  Tianna Fumasoli chipped in with 16 points and three steals.

York finished the game shooting 39.2 percent from the field (31-of-79), 35.3 from 3-point land (6-of-17) and 55.6 percent from the free-throw line (5-of-9) as CCNY was limited to 26.8 percent from the floor (19-of-71), 21.6 percent from beyond the arc (7-of-32) and 70 percent from the charity stripe (7-of-10).  The Cardinals held a +29 rebounding edge (66-37) and scored 23 second-chance points off 26 offensive boards.  York outplayed the Beavers in assists (19-6), blocks (4-1), points in the paint (36-20), points off turnovers (18-7) and bench scoring (34-0) while CCNY owned the advantage in steals (8-5).

The Cardinals (9-14, 6-7 CUNYAC) will look to match their highest win total (10) since 2010-11 campaign when they close out the regular season on the road Saturday (Feb. 15) in Brooklyn against the Medgar Evers College Cougars (6-16, 2-10 CUNAYC) at 1 p.m. inside Cougars Cave.
