JAMAICA, NY --- (
www.YORKATHLETICS.com) York College women's volleyball returned home for the first time in nearly three weeks Thursday evening and faced a three-set CUNYAC defeat, 25-8, 25-4, 25-12, to the Baruch College Bearcats (13-5, 5-0 CUNYAC) inside York College Gymnasium.
The Bearcats jumped ahead in all three sets and never looked back as York was limited to hit at a rate of -.218. York's best set came in the third stanza, when the Cardinals produced five kills. Baruch outplayed York in points (46-8), hitting percentage (.323 to -.218), kills (30-8), aces (16-0), assists (26-8) and digs (27-24).
Chrissy Hobson's four points paced York with four kills on 12 swings to hit .250.
Alexandra Taveras followed with three kills and five assists as
Alessandra Villota added one kill.
Dorianny Rojas' six digs led the defensive unit.
Ada Cao nailed down a match-high 12 kills to hit at a .474 clip for Baruch. Claudia Moi and Sanaa Hadjeb each dished out 12 assists to move the Bearcat offense. Claudia Daporta served a match-leading six aces.
The Cardinals (5-9, 1-5 CUNYAC) return to the court next Tuesday (Oct. 22) for a non-conference road match against the University of Valley Forge Patriots at 7 p.m. from UVF Gymnasium in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania.
