BRONX, N.Y.—The York College women's volleyball team got off to a slow start against Lehman College Thursday night falling in three sets 3-0 (25-10, 25-7, 25-21).
Led by York Junior
Chayana Jimenez (Gregorio Luperon/Dominican Republic) had three kills and six digs. Junior
Dorianny Rojas (Bushwick HS/Brooklyn, NY) finished with two aces and four digs. Freshman
Kiara Gonzalez (Northside Charter HS/Puerto Rico) recorded nine assists.
Eriadna Vasquez led the Lightning in the victory with seven kills. Samantha Delgado finished with a match-high eleven assists.
Lehman started the first match on a 10-1 run. York was unable to slow the Lehman offense losing the set on an attack error. The Cardinals played a sloppy second set, which allowed the Lightning to go up 2-0. In the third set, down match point 24-12, York scored nine straight points in a row to close the gap, but Lehman pulled out the point to win the final set. With the loss, York is now 0-5, 0-3 CUNYAC. Lehman is 3-5, 1-2 CUNYAC.
The Cardinals will be away at Sarah Lawrence College on Wednesday, September 19th at 7 p.m. in Bronxville.
