FRANKLIN, M.A.- The York College men's volleyball team suffered two defeats up in Massachusetts Saturday, as they were taken down by Dean College. The Cardinals fell by a score of 3-0 (25-10, 25-21, 25-17) in the first match and 3-1 (26-28, 25-17, 25-15, 25-12) in the second matchup.

The Cardinals started the day off on the wrong foot. Dean College won the first set in convincing fashion, as the Cardinals barely made it to double-digits. Dean College hit .615 and earned nine kills in the set.

The second set was closer. York took an early 5-3 lead before Dean College scored the next seven to take a 10-5 lead. The rest of the set was extremely back in forth, culminating in an 20-18 score, after York scored six of the seven previous points. A kill from
Akeem George put the team down two, but two kills and two errors from York put the set in Dean College's hands.

The third set wasn't as close as the score indicates. At one point York had a 15-4 deficit and the set was never in doubt for Dean College. 12 kills aided Dean College as they finished off York.

Wolf Metellus was the team's key server as he earned two aces.

The second game started off a bit differently for York. The Cardinals played a back and forth set against Dean, resulting in the score being tied at 26 a piece. Two attack errors from Dean gave York the win 28-26. York totaled nine kills and took advantage of eight Dean errors.

After York tied the score at 6-6 in the first set, Dean college took the lead and ran with it on their way to a 25-17 victory. The third set was more of the same; the Cardinals totaled four kills while Dean earned nine.

The fourth set would also see the Cardinals go down quietly. After an ace from
Adil Manji made it 8-2, Dean scored the next seven points to make it 15-2. The Cardinals scored their final point on a kill from
Mambe Koureissi making it 22-12, before Dean would put away the game.

York was led in the second match by
Akil Vaughn, who had seven kills, while
Frederis Tapia also earned six kills.
Adil Manji was key in the service game as he totaled three aces. Dean College was lead by Diondre Gomes who had 11 kills to go along with his 14 from the first match.

York (4-18) will now head back home for a CUNYAC matchup on Tuesday with John Jay (11-7). Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
