BELLEROSE, N.Y- The scoreboard was lit up this afternoon at Padvan-Preller field, as York College took on Yeshiva University. Scoring came in bunches as the Maccabees defeated the Cardinals, 26-15.

The first inning was kind to the Cardinals. Even after giving up three runs in the top of the inning, they powered back in the bottom half, putting eight runs on the board.
Allison Ahmed drove in two runs with a single in the inning and in the very next at-bat,
Nicole Ovelheira drove in Ahmed with a double. Three errors, four walks, and four wild pitches from Yeshiva aided York in the inning.

York held a two-run lead after two innings, but in the top of the third ,Yeshiva would put eight runs on the board. The big hit in the inning would come with the bases loaded, as Gabi Chutter hit a bases-clearing double.

The Cardinals would come up to bat in the bottom of the third down by a score of 15-9. York would manage to grab two runs in the inning thanks to two walks and two errors committed by Yeshiva. They would hold Yeshiva scoreless in the top of the fourth and score a run of their own in the bottom half after an
Alyssa King single and RBI.

The fifth inning would be where the game would be blown open. Yeshiva entered the top of the inning with a three-run lead and by the end of the inning their lead ballooned to 14 runs. The Maccabees scored 11 runs in the inning thanks to five hits and four errors from the Cardinals. The inning was capped off by a triple from Ellie Chase with the bases loaded. Ellie's three RBI's would give the Maccabees their final runs of the afternoon.

York scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth and looked like they were poised for more, but
Alyssa King struck out swinging and
Dorianny Rojas hit into a fielder's choice with the bases loaded.

Nicole Ovelheira, who earned three hits and two RBI's, led York on the afternoon.
Shamonie Miller and
Allison Ahmed also had good days at the plate, knocking in two runs apiece.

York will once again take the field on Thursday, when they take on Hunter College at Padvan-Preller field at 3:00 p.m.
