PURCHASE, N.Y. — The York College (N.Y.) women's basketball team (0-1) opened their 2018-19 campaign on the road Wednesday night taking on Manhattanville. The Cardinals fell by a final score of 57-12 despite outscoring their opponents in the fourth quarter.

The Valiants controlled the contest from the outset as the first quarter ended with them leading 18-0. A free-throw from Diamond Jackson (Ellenville, N.Y./Ellenville) got York on the board late in the second and they went on to trail 32-3 at the half.

York was held scoreless in the third as well as Manhattanville ran away with the game entering the fourth quarter. However, four different Cardinals scored in the fourth and Aminata Sagna (Brooklyn, N.Y./John Dewey) drained her first three-pointer of the season as York outscored the hosts 9-8 in the final period.

Sheana Roshcer (Bronx, N.Y./Fannie Lou Hamer) led the Cardinals with four points and added six boards as well as two steals. Ellma Hodzic (Queens, N.Y./Queens Metropolitan) pulled down a team-high seven rebounds and swiped two steals. Keyla Cabrera (Queens, N.Y./Bayside) dished out a team-high two assists and chipped in six boards and two steals.

The women's basketball team is back in action at the Penn State-Harrisburg Tournament taking on Mary Baldwin College in the opening round on Saturday (Nov. 24). Tip-off is set for 6 pm in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
