Mac-Dege Dessources's Double-Double not Enough in Women’s Basketball Loss to Mary Baldwin
HARRISBURG, PA — The York College (N.Y.) women's basketball team (0-2) loses game on the road in the Penn State University-Harrisburg Tournament against Mary Baldwin College (5-1) Saturday night. The Cardinals fell by a final score of 42-74 despite a strong scoring effort from Freshmen, Mac-Dege Dessources (Brooklyn, N.Y./Opportunity Charter HS) and Ellma Hodzic (Queens, N.Y./Queens Metropolitan).
Mac-Dege Dessources made it difficult for Mary Baldwin to run away with the game as she picked up her first collegiate career double-double with 15 points and 21 rebounds for the Cardinals. Despite her efforts, missed free-throws and turnovers plagued the Cardinals throughout the game making it difficult for the Cardinals to take over the lead. York was held to five points in the third quarter giving Mary Baldwin an opening to run away with the game entering the fourth quarter.
Ellma Hodzic had an impressive night from beyond the arch shooting four for eight from the floor. Keyla Cabrera (Queens, N.Y./Bayside) also contributed nine rebounds and chipped in four points for the Cardinals.
The women's basketball team is back in action tomorrow to close out the Penn State-Harrisburg Tournament taking on Notre Dame (MD) in the consolation game Sunday (Nov. 25) at 3 pm.
