JAMAICA, N.Y.—The York College women's volleyball team got off to a strong start against Lehman College Thursday night, but ultimately fell in four sets 3-1 (26-28, 25-10, 25-18, 25-11).
 
York was led by Allison Li, who had five kills and 17 digs. Allison Ahmed finished with 11 assists, four aces and 16 digs. Kassandra Diaz recorded 15 digs.
 
Caitlin Vernon led the Lightning in the victory with ten kills. Paulette Sepulveda finished with a match-high 19 digs.
 
The first set of the match was a wild one, with both teams going back and forth. York held a set point at 24-23, but Lehman rallied for two straight to take the lead. After the two teams exchanged points, York got three in a row to clinch the set. Maria Rodriguez finished off the set with two straight aces.
 
York played a sloppy second set, which allowed Lehman to even up the match.  In the third set, York had a chance to move ahead again, after taking a 17-14 advantage. However, the Cardinals struggled late and Lehman pulled ahead to take a 2-1 advantage.
 
Lehman took the momentum over to the fourth set, where they had their best performance, hitting .259 and taking the set easily.
 
With the loss, York is now 2-20, 1-6 CUNYAC. Lehman is 5-18, 3-4 CUNYAC. The Cardinals will host John Jay College on Tuesday at 7 p.m. on its senior night.
