Kanhai and McCain Win, but York Swimming Falls to Staten Island

JAMAICA, N.Y.—York College swimmers Shantusha Kanhai and Justice McCain each won an event, but the Cardinals fell as a team to the College of Staten Island on Thursday night.  The women lost 102-46, while the men fell 151-36.
 
Kanhai was victorious in the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:40.34, besting Olivia Brown of CSI by five seconds.
 
McCain was the winner in the 800-meter freestyle.  He finished with a time of 11:58.03, which was more than a minute ahead of the second-place finisher.
 
The men drop to 1-7 and will be idle until the CUNYAC Championships on Friday, February 3. The women are 1-9 and close the regular season tomorrow with a home meet vs. Hunter College at 4 p.m.
