Men’s and Women’s Swimming Downed by Lehman

BRONX, N.Y.—The York College men's and women's swimming teams were each defeated by CUNYAC-rival Lehman College on Tuesday. The women lost, 90-57, while the men fell, 93-73.
 
York failed to win an event against Lehman, but did have a number of notable finishes.  Javier Velazquez was third in both the 100-yard freestyle (1:00.05) and the 200-yard freestyle (2:17.99).  In the 100-free, he was just out-touched at the wall by the first and second-place finishers. Also on the men's side, Nicholas Bailey placed second in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:32.70. 
 
Michell Diaz-Perea was third in the 50-yard free style with a time of 33.46.  Kerry-Ann Bailey was second in the 100-butterfly (1:39.95) and the 500-yard freestyle (8:25.23).
 
With the loss the women are 1-6, 0-4 CUNYAC and the men are 1-4, 0-3 CUNYAC.  The Lehman women are 3-7, 1-3 CUNYAC, while the men are 4-5, 1-2 CUNYAC.
 
The Cardinals travel to Maritime College on Thursday for a double dual meet with Maritime and Queens College.
