QUEENS, N.Y. -- The York College women's volleyball team fell to the College of Staten Island in a conference matchup Tuesday night, 3-1 (25-23, 22-25, 25-18, 25-13).

In the first set, the College of Staten Island (3-6, 2-2 CUNYAC) used strong serving to pull out to a 12-3 lead. After a lopsided start to the set, the Cardinals fought their way back with five straight points to come within six and later would tie the game 23-23. But Staten Island closed the set with two straight points.

The second set saw York take a commanding 13-5 lead, but Staten Island fought their way back and tied the set 20-20. The Cardinals hung on to close out the set and senior
Shauncia McClendon won the final point with a block.

However, York couldn't complete the comeback as they dropped the third set, 25-18 and fourth set, 25-13.

McClendon led the team in digs with 13 and had seven aces.
Tiandra Jones had nine kills and
Chayana Jimenez totaled 12 digs.

For Staten Island, Siobhan Granich had ten kills and Victoria Wong finished with 29 digs.

The Cardinals (2-11, 1-4 CUNYAC) are back in action tomorrow night for a 7 p.m. home match versus St. Joseph College (Long Island).
