BROOKLYN, N.Y.— The York College Cardinals men's soccer team saw a hard-fought match against Brooklyn College on Saturday afternoon end in defeat by a final score of 8-2.

Ronaldo Smith, who snuck one past the keeper, giving York a 1-0 advantage in the 19th minute— the goal was his first of the season. Brooklyn would go on to score the next two goals before halftime. The first one came off of a free kick after York was hit with a foul. The second came right before halftime and was scored by Valentyn Kharko— his third of the season and first of three goals on the day
The Bulldogs started off the second half the same way they finished the first half, finding the back of the net 26 seconds into the half. The goal was scored by Jordy Orti—the first of two goals he would score on the day.
The Cardinals only other goal of the match came in the 53rd minute. It was a long ball shot by
Shaquille Hodge that found its way past the keeper to keep York in the game, making the score 3-2.
The Cardinals fell apart after that, allowing five unanswered goals to end the day and four in the final ten minutes of play. The Bulldogs had a total of 37 shots in the game, 20 of which came in the second half. York held the advantage in saves, as keeper
Nigel Sampson turned away 11 shots.
The loss moves York record to 0-8 and 0-2 in CUNYAC play, The win put the Bulldogs record at 4-4 and 1-0-1 in conference play. Next up for York is another CUNYAC match— a road matchup against CCNY, whose record stands at 3-4-1 this season.
