JAMAICA, NY—The York College men's and women's swimming team held its home-opening meet on Friday night in a double dual vs. Bard College and the College of Mt. St. Vincent.  The York women came out on top against Bard, but were defeated against Mt St. Vincent.  The men were victorious against Mt. St. Vincent, but came up short against Bard.
 
The scores for the women were 128-52 against MSV and 86-85 vs. Bard.  The men won 91-72 against MSV and lost 114-59 versus Bard.
 
For York, Kawon King won the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 27.30, while teammate John Castillo was third in 28.00.  Castillo would later win the 100-free in a time of 1:08.25 and place second in the 100-meter breaststroke in 1:18.19.  Hernan Checchi also contributed with a second-place finish in the 400-meter freestyle (6:11.17).  
 
For the women, Marissa Buchanan was second in the 200-meter IM with a time of 3:29.85 and Katherine Collado was second in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:41.86).
 
York returns to action on Monday when they visit Baruch College at 6 p.m.
