Women’s Volleyball Drops Two Tough Road Matches Against Out of Conference Opponents

WAYNE, NJ. –  The York women's volleyball team lost two road matches against tough out-of-conference squads on Saturday. The Cardinals fell to William Patterson University 3-0 (25-10, 25-5. 25-14) and then again to Mount Saint Mary College (NY) 3-0, (25-12, 25-12, 25-18).  York's record now stands at 3-13.

York took the floor early in the day against WPU--who are currently 9-6 for the season.  The match was a challenge from the beginning, yet despite the straight set loss, Renne Daley continued to be a force, adding eight kills to her already impressive season.  Mary Pamolarco held strong with seven digs.  Erin Roach, who collected 11 kills, led the Pioneers.  Kendall Caruso orchestrated WPU's offense, tallying 36 assists.

The afternoon round had the Cardinals facing off against Mount Saint Mary College (6-14).  The Knights had strong momentum entering the match, having won their previous four matches.  York jumped out to an early lead in the first frame 6-5, but MSMC was quick to even the score and put the set away.  The rest of the match saw an evenly distributed offense from the Knights with four players having seven or more kills.  MSMC would eventually close out the match, 3-0.  Nemesis Gallegos and Shauncia McClendon stepped up on defense for the Cardinals with nine digs each.  Renee Daley had a quieter match then usual but was still able to lead the team in kills with four.

The Cardinals will take the floor next against New Jersey City University Tuesday, October 6th away in Jersey City.  York has not faced the Gothic Knights of NJCU (8-6) since 2012.
