Swimming Returns to Action; Falls to Staten Island

JAMAICA, N.Y.— The York College men's and women's swimming teams returned to the pool after the holiday break on Thursday evening.  Both squads came up short against the Dolphins of the College of Staten Island.
 
The men fell by a score of 144.5-28.5, while the women were defeated 118-40.  Travis Henry was York's only winner of the evening, as he finished tied with CSI's Roberto Hidalgo in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 26.51.  Henry would also add a second-place finish in the 100-meter backstroke (1:11.29).  In addition, Alfred Clark was second in the 200-meter freestyle. 
 
The women were led by Marissa Buchanan, who placed second in both the 200-meter individual medley (3:10.58) and the 100-meter backstroke (1:26.25).   Alexandra Castro was also second in the 100-meter freestyle (1:03.02).
 
The York women return to action on Monday with a home meet against John Jay College, beginning at 6 p.m.  The men are idle until January 20 when they visit Lehman College at 6 p.m.
