ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.— The York College men's and women's swimming teams participated in a double dual meet against Bard College and the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Friday evening. Despite five first-place finishes, the men lost 87-70 to Mt. St. Vincent and 104-69 to Bard. The women lost 77-72 to Mt. St. Vincent and 110-72 to Bard, despite a nice effort from Marissa Buchannan.
Travis Henry put together an impressive performance to lead the men, winning both the 50-yard free (24.33) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:02.89). He bested nine other competitors in the 50-free.
Justice McCain won a pair of events as well. He touched the wall first in the 100-freestyle in a time of 1:00.18. He beat out six other swimmers in a tight race. He also won the 200-yard freestyle in convincing fashion with a time of 2:20.69. His closest competitor came in at 2:35.52
Alfred Clark was a winner in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing in a time of 1:07.07, which narrowly edged Bard's Derek Lowe, who came in at 1:07.39.
Marissa Buchanan was York's only winner on the women's side, as she won the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 14:53.64. She also came in second in the 100-backstroke in (1:10.34).
York will return to action on Tuesday with a home meet against Baruch College. First race is set for 6 p.m.
