BROOKLYN, N.Y. – On a wet and windy Saturday afternoon, the York College men's soccer team gave up three goals in the second half to conference-rival John Jay College in a 3-1 loss.
The Cardinals scored early in the contest, as
Huguens Smith got York on the board in the 2nd minute of the game--his first goal of the season.
Jeffrey Kerr was awarded the assist after John Jay keeper, Vitecha Kochaon, deflected his shot to Smith, who took advantage and gave York a 1-0 lead.
The score remained 1-0 into halftime, but the Bloodhounds (4-7, 3-1 CUNYAC) looked like a totally different team when they came out of the locker room, as their offense outshot the Cardinals 13-4 in the second half. Grayson Carlson tied the match early in the second half with a goal in the 47th minute, assisted by Korede Griffith. Griffith added a goal in the 64th minute to give the Bloodhounds the lead, and Ricardo Llanos added the insurance goal in the 75th minute. Griffith and Llanos each had a goal and an assist for John Jay.
York (4-8, 2-3 CUNYAC) will look to end their three-game losing streak on the road against CUNYAC opponent Baruch College this Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
