Swimming Falls to Brooklyn College

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Despite another strong meet from Alfred Clark on the men's side and Sandra Shamburger on the women's side, the York College men's and women's swimming teams each fell to Brooklyn College on Friday night. The men lost, 101-82, while the women fell, 85-44.
 
Shamburger won the 50-yard freestyle in 27.20, besting six other swimmers, and also won the 100-yard backstroke in 1:05.55.
 
Clark blew away the competition in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:06.62 and later won the 100-yard freestyle in 54.17.  He also led the 200-yard medley relay team with John Castillo, Jonathan Santiago and George Asmar to a win in a time of 1:59.37.
 
Castillo also won an individual event, taking first in the 50-freestyle in a time of 25.61. Asmar came in second, just behind Castillo in a time of 26.49.
 
The men fall to 1-3 with the loss, while the women are now 0-4.  The women will be idle until December 3, when they take on Hunter College.  The men will now have a long layoff and will not swim again until January 10 against the College of Staten Island.
