JAMAICA, N.Y— The York College men's and women's swimming teams each fell to both the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and SUNY Old Westbury in a double dual meet on Thursday night. The women lost to USMMA, 62-26 and were defeated by Old Westbury, 58-25. The men lost to USMMA by a score of 74-13 and 71-21 to Old Westbury.
Prior to the start of the meet, seniors
Jason Shaw and
Paulana Lamonier were honored for their contributions to the program.
Once the meet got going, it was York's
Sandra Shamburger, who continued her dominance this season. She won the 50-meter freestyle in 29.22 and the 100-meter backstroke in 1:12.53. She has not lost since the first meet of the season, extended her individual event winning streak to 14. USMMA would prove tough to beat though, as they won all but five events on the night.
York has now completed the 2012-13 season and will be idle until the CUNYAC Championships, which will take place at Lehman College from January 31 through February 2.
